The Day Maple & Weezie Joined the Crew: A Cape Cod Carpentry Jobsite Takeover
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to renovate a home on Cape Cod with two highly motivated, four-legged “apprentices,” let us introduce you to Maple and Weezie—two enthusiastic client dogs who recently joined us on-site and immediately decided they were part of the team.
Maple, Chief Snoopervisor
Maple, a German Shorthaired Pointer with the energy of a small hurricane, arrived ready to supervise. Weezie, a lovable Labrador with a college-level talent for snack detection, took a more relaxed approach to jobsite leadership. Together, they turned a routine carpentry project into a full-scale dog-powered operation.
Weezie
Checking the Tools (and Stealing the Spotlight)
Before we could even lay out materials, Maple completed her own inspection of the ladder, the scaffolding, and every tool bag within reach. If there were an OSHA rulebook for dogs, she would’ve rewritten it.
Weezie followed closely behind, not to inspect anything—but to make sure Maple didn’t find a forgotten sandwich.
Both dogs quickly became experts at:
Standing proudly on ladders like they owned the house
Surveying the yard like seasoned Cape Cod general contractors
Giving emotional support to the crew (and demanding head rubs in return)
Walking through sawdust with zero regard for cleanup
These two took their jobsite responsibilities seriously… or at least as seriously as one can while occasionally chasing a stick.
Cape Cod Home Renovation, But Make It Dog-Friendly
Homeowners on Cape Cod know that renovation projects come with unique challenges—salt air, historic homes, shifting weather, and, apparently, dogs who believe scaffolding is a personal jungle gym.
As carpenters who work throughout the Cape, we’ve seen a lot. But dogs climbing ladders to get a better view of the ocean breeze? That’s a new one.
While we handled the trim work, structural updates, and carpentry details, Maple and Weezie focused on more important tasks:
Supervising from the highest ladder rung allowed by dog law
Supervising from the lowest ladder rung when they were tired
Supervising from the homeowner’s porch when snacks became a priority
They supervised. A lot.
Why We Love Our Four-Legged “Assistants”
Beech Tree Carpentry is a small, local Cape Cod business—and the best part of being local is getting to know the families, the homes, and yes, the dogs who live there.
We always say carpentry is personal. These homes aren’t just structures—they’re memories, routines, and everyday life. When Maple and Weezie joined the crew, the project became a perfect reminder of why we love what we do: we work on homes that are lived in, loved, and sometimes filled with joyful chaos.
The Final Walkthrough
By the end of the project:
The trim work was finished
The renovation looked beautiful
The scaffolding survived
And Maple and Weezie earned their honorary titles as “Assistant Project Managers”
They didn’t exactly help us finish faster… but they definitely made the day a lot more fun.
